As a writer I want to get lost in the story, and take readers with me.

Why do I write? The answer to that question is the same reason as why a reader reads. It's to find out what happens!

I don't quite agree with having to learn to write in order to write. You just write; and you learn by writing. Of course there are basics to the subject just as there are basics in any field.

Do what you're most at home doing. And you might find then that you're more at home with others and the world itself.

I'm more in the world of a story when reading one versus watching one. And I'm more in the world of a story when writing one versus when reading one.

To be upset by the idea that the only meaning in the world is the meaning that you put there, is an invalidation of yourself. And it's an advertisement of YOUR fall from grace. Others, climbing back up after having fallen themselves, to become again the giants that we actually are ... if you need to hold on that bad to excuses and "reasons" for your own failure, at least don't hold up the rest of us and let us climb. Lest ye be stepped on.

After the "end if the innocence" ... it's just the beginning of new innocence. We continue to be dumb troublemakers and shit disturbers trying to find our way. We're just kids in bigger bodies. There is no "end of the innocence".

The writer, going into the world and then getting out of it – and putting meaning into it from the outside, and then coming back into it.

In writing, just as in any other art, such as photography, there is a communication. This communication, no matter how simple or complex the story may be, must be simple in itself, and it must run through the story. It must ride through it, every chapter, scene, every sentence. And it is what guides and takes the writer through the writing of that story. If the writer has that, he will get the story written; if he doesn't have it, even if the story gets completed, there is no story. In this way, there can be truth and aliveness and reality in the story.
